Suraj Nagarji, MS, LCMHCA

Suraj

Suraj Nagarji received a Master of Science Degree in Applied Clinical Psychology from University of South Carolina Aiken in 2015 and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Auburn University. Suraj is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHC-A) through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC).

She began her career working at Glenwood Autism & Behavioral Health Center in Birmingham, AL where she realized her passion for working with individuals with higher functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and helping them develop social skills, share their emotional intelligence, and process the daily challenges they encounter. Since moving to North Carolina, she has worked in both school and in-home settings with adolescent populations experiencing behavior challenges, trauma-related experiences from home and food insecurity, bullying, Anxiety Disorders, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and more. In private practice, Suraj worked with adults experiencing Mood Disorders (i.e. Bipolar Disorder) in both individual and group therapy settings using Dialectical Behavior Therapy to reduce self-harm and suicidal behaviors and increase the quality of everyday life.

Suraj’s therapeutic foundations are in Eco-Systemic Family Therapy (ESFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). However, she uses an eclectic approach to help create a tailor-made treatment plan that reflects each individual’s unique needs. She believes that therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating and welcomes you to a conversation to learn about how therapy can work for you and to ask any questions about the process in a safe, non-judgemental place.
