Allegra Cooper, co-owner of Life & Wellness Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) through the North Carolina Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. Allegra earned a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University in 2009 and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of South Carolina in 2007. Allegra also serves as an Outpatient Therapist for Life & Wellness Counseling and Consulting, PLLC.
Allegra’s journey as a therapist started close to home, as she grew up in a family where both her parents were in helping professions. She has worked in several different environments such as the Department of Social Services, psychiatric hospitals for adolescent, classroom settings and after-school programs, group homes as well as private in-home settings. Allegra has experience providing Christian-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF CBT), Emotional Crisis Intervention, and has experience providing Trauma recovery for victims of abuse and domestic violence. She found through her work and her dedication to people, that regardless of the environment or the particulars of your circumstance, clients benefit from having a safe and confidential place to be heard and understood. She believes that true healing begins when a person acknowledges the connectedness of mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and social health and that an expectation of addressing one facet of health without addressing the others will only delay the potential to achieve authentic wellness.
“If I want my clients to be comfortable with sharing their story as a way of healing, I have to be comfortable with my own story; so I’m actually walking this path to healing alongside them and together we discover that life has many seasons and in every season Life is Beautiful!"
Allegra Cooper, MA, LPCA
Angela Cooper, M.Ed., NBCT
Angela Cooper serves as education consultant and support for Life & Wellness Counseling and Consulting, PLLC. She is a Nationally Certified Exceptional Needs Specialist who currently supports teachers in literacy instruction and best practices. Angela earned her M. Ed. from Cambridge College in Boston MA and has completed countless hours of professional development in literacy and special education.
With over thirty years of experience in education which include District Teacher of the Year, State Honor Roll Teacher, Angela is passionate about helping others develop their skills in literacy. She also believes that every child deserves the opportunity to participate in education to their fullest extent. As a classroom teacher, she found not only a need for support of students with exceptional needs but also a need for support of general education teachers who serviced exceptional needs students. While providing support for teachers Angela noted that often exceptional needs students were undeserved not only because of teachers’ lack of knowledge but also because parents/guardians were often ill equipped to participate fully in the educational support process for their children.
Through Life & Wellness Counseling and Consulting, PLLC, Angela provides support for families of exceptional needs children by helping them sift through educational jargon to secure the best possible services the educational system can provide. These services are currently provided through video conferences, phone conferences and scheduled office visits.
“I’ve experienced the gaps in our educational institutions that make it nearly impossible to effectively address the mental health concerns of both our teachers and students. At Life & Wellness, I have the opportunity to help students, educators, and families find balance between managing mental health and academic performance; I have the opportunity to teach them that Life is Beautiful.”
