Sarah Kane, MS, LCSW

Sarah Kane is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in North Carolina and a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW). At Life & Wellness Counseling and Consulting, Sarah works as the Clinical Supervisor overseeing the team’s clinical work, while also providing therapy to a small caseload of clients.

Sarah began working as a therapist in her hometown of Toronto, Canada in 2015 after completing a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work, both at the University of Toronto. An enthusiastic traveler, she then moved to Australia where she continued her clinical work in outpatient therapy. In 2022, Sarah relocated to the Lake Norman area for the mild winters, abundant nature, and proximity to her family.

Her areas of specialty include grief & loss, loss of relationships, adjustment to illness, trauma from abuse or neglect, anxiety, depression, and coping with significant life changes. Sarah is experienced in supporting therapists, medical staff, and helping professionals in managing the demands and impact of their profession. She also welcomes people who are not sure what is wrong, but feel that something in their life is not quite right and are open to giving therapy a try. Sarah works with clients aged 12 years and up and has a particular interest in working with late teenagers and young adults.

Sarah’s style is warm, kind, and active. Her therapeutic approach caters to the needs of each person. She draws primarily from her training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Bereavement (grief & loss) Counseling, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness. Transparency and collaboration are central to Sarah’s work. She works with clients to first understand their circumstances, problems, strengths and values; which are then built on to find insight, relief, and/or solutions for their concerns.

"I want you to leave with a sense of clarity about yourself, an understanding of what you need to do to live life on your terms, and the skills to manage challenges that get in the way".
